💰 The Disability Tax Credit (DTC) & BC Benefits

This is a federal non-refundable tax credit that reduces the income tax parents have to pay. It is also the “key” that unlocks thousands of dollars in provincial and federal cash benefits:

Tax Savings: Families in BC supporting a child with a disability can save over $3,200 per year in combined taxes.
Going Backwards: If your child’s speech or developmental delays started years ago, you can claim this retroactively up to 10 years for a massive refund check.
The Bonus Boosts: Getting approved automatically qualifies you for the Federal Child Disability Benefit (up to $3,480/year) and the new BC Family Benefit Disability Supplement (up to $6,000/year).
Who Qualifies: Children with severe or prolonged restrictions in daily living activities—including Speaking or Mental Functions.
